Pataleshwara

As the name suggests this temple is dedicated to Lord Pataleshwara i.e. Lord Shiva. It’s a rock-cut cave temple. The temple belongs to Rashtrakuta period in 8th century. Once you enter the gate of the temple, you will see a garden and mostly students (As the colleges are in the nearby area, its’ one of the best place to spend time with friends by bunking lectures :P ).

As you go ahead you will see a beautiful structure called Nandi Mandapa. In front of the Nandi Mandapa there is Pataleshwara Idol in the temple. There is idol of Lord Shiva along with the idols of Lord Shrirama, Maa Sita and Lord Lakshmana. Once you enter the temple you will see a beautiful corridor as you perform parikrama. It’s so peaceful that you will forget you are at the centre of the city. ASI maintains this site.

The gates are open from 8:30am - 5:30 pm
