Guruji Talim Ganapati Mandal

This is the third Ganapati of honor in Pune.  It was established in the year 1887. The mandal is located in the center of the city. The idol of Lord Ganesha is installed in an illuminated pagoda. The jewelry of the idol is donated by the traders of the Laxmi road. The idol has around 8kg-10kg of gold ornaments.

Talim means a place where wrestlers are trained. Guruji Talim, which was named after the instructor of the Talim, is said to be the oldest talim in Pune. Since 1987, the centenary year, the mandal has stopped taking donations from the residents and the nearby traders. The money required for the festival is donated by the members of the Mandal from their pocket. The mandal has around 350 members.

The idol of Guruji Talim Mandal was made up of Shadu in 1972. Today they have a new idol which is made up of fiber and is a replica of the previous one. The preparation for the festival starts 4-5 months before the Ganesh Chaturthi. The idol is said to be the only idol in entire Maharashtra which sits on the Mooshak (mouse) and the trunk of the idol reaches the modak which is very uncommon.

Dhol troupes like Shivgarjana, Naadbramha perform in the immersion procession of the Mandal. Along with them Lezim troups also take part in the procession
